Hertz Fellows Listserv

The Hertz Fellows’ email listserv provides a forum for Hertz Fellows to connect and share ideas and information with one another. The listserv is for Hertz Fellows only.

How to Join

The listserv is administered using Google Groups. You do not need a Google account to join or participate in the listserv. However, joining the group with a Google account enables you to manage your listserv subscription and access other features.

There are two ways to join the listserv:

  1. If you have a Google account, visit our Hertz Fellows Listserv group and click the “Ask to Join Group” button.

  2. Contact a member of the Hertz staff by emailing info@hertzfoundation.org, and we’ll add you to the listserv directly.

Once you have been subscribed to the listserv, you will receive an email confirmation and begin receiving emails sent by other members.

Benefits

Easy to Use
To email the listserv, simply send an email to hertzfellows@hertzfoundation.org using the email address you used to join.

Contact Information
Access the names and email addresses of other Hertz Fellows who are members of the listserv.

Connections with Trusted Peers
Exchange information and ideas with your one-of-a-kind community of Hertz Fellows. For example, you can share:

  • Funding Opportunities
  • Job Openings
  • Requests for Expertise
  • Events
  • Questions for the Community
  • Other Topics of Interest

Code of Conduct

The Hertz Foundation does not monitor, sanction or endorse the content of information exchanged through the listserv, except when posted by our staff acting in a professional capacity. Opinions or points of view expressed in a listserv message are those of the authors alone. All members of the listserv must adhere to the Hertz Foundation’s code of conduct, and we reserve the right to remove anyone who does not. Respectful dialogue and sharing of relevant information and resources is the expectation.

Emailing Tips

Job Openings
Include the job description in the body of the email and a link to the application or relevant webpage. If you’re just passing it along, indicate that you’re “just the messenger” and provide a point of contact so people are directed to the right avenue to get more information

Effective Subject Lines
Include the topic area upfront to let Hertz Fellows know what to expect in the email. For example:

  • Job Opportunity: Chemist at New Company Inc.
  • Request for Expertise: Looking for startup advice
  • Upcoming Event: Seeking moderator for aerospace panel

Creating Threads
If you want to continue a conversation with everyone, you can reply using the listserv email (“reply all” ) but be thoughtful about using this option. You can also just reply to the person who wrote the email (just “reply” to their email).

Managing Your Subscription

If you have a Google account, you can visit the Hertz Fellows Listserv group to change your membership settings, including the frequency of emails, see the list of members and read previous email conversations. You may also unsubscribe from the listserv by sending an email to hertzfellows+unsubscribe@hertzfoundation.org, which is found in the footer of all emails received through the listserv.

If you do not have a Google account, you may unsubscribe from the listserv by sending an email to hertzfellows+unsubscribe@hertzfoundation.org, which is found in the footer of all emails received through the listserv.
