Rhett Butler, PhD

Rhett Butler is a Geophysicist–Seismologist at the Experience Hawai`i Institute of Geophysics and Planetology.
Rhett studies oceanic seismology, tsunamis, volcanos, earthquakes, antipodal seismology, and seismoacoustics. He also serves a a Consultant and Science Advisor for NASA for the Discovery program. He is also a Member of NASA’s Standing Review Board for the InSight mission to Mars.
He received his Ph.D. from California Institute of Technology in 1979 after receiving his B.S. in Earth and Planetary Sciences from MIT.
