Peter Guth

Peter Guth is a professor in the Department of Oceanography at the United States Naval Academy. He has been on the faculty of the Naval Academy’s oceanography department since 1988, teaching a wide range of courses including his research interests of geology and computer mapping. He has served on the Promotion and Tenure Committee, chaired the Faculty Senate Curriculum Committee, and was recently elected president of the Faculty Senate.

Professor Guth was educated at Deep Springs College, West Point, and earned a PhD from MIT on a Hertz Fellowship doing geologic mapping in the Sheep Range north of Las Vegas, Nevada. He served in the military on active duty for eleven years, and the reserves for seventeen years.
