Paul Rubbert, PhD
Paul Rubbert was a leader in the development of the field of computational fluid dynamics.
Paul grew up and attended university in Minnesota, obtaining bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aeronautical engineering. He worked at the Boeing Airplane Company in Seattle before attending MIT for his PhD in aerodynamics engineering, received in 1965. He then worked at Boeing for over 30 years, including serving as director of the Computational Fluid Dynamics division, and working on the Trident Nuclear Submarines, the Space Shuttle and many aircraft.
Paul was elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering, a fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, a fellow of Boeing Company and is recognized for his achievements on the Wall of Honor in the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. He also liked to play chess and raised three sons with his wife Mary.
