Derek Linden is Software Development Manager at Advanced Wave Research (AWR) Group, Cadence Design Systems, Inc.

Derek received his BS from the US Air Force Academy and then an MS and Ph.D. from MIT. He has conducted research in the automated design of wire and patch antennas using evolutionary optimization since 1995. He is co-inventor on the patented genetic antenna design process, and has published extensively including conference and journal articles, three book chapters, and an IEEE short course. He founded Linden Innovation Research in 1999 and became the CTO of X5 Systems in 2008. X5 Systems was acquired by Advanced Wave Research (AWR) Group, Cadence Design Systems, Inc. in 2016. He is currently a Software Development Manager directing the development of AntSyn, the acquired online tool that automatically transforms antenna specifications into optimized designs.
