Barak Gale, OD

Barak Gale is a climate educator and environmental activist.
He is chair of The Climate Reality Project Thurston County, WA Chapter and a facilitator of Temple Beth Hatfiloh Green Team in Olympia. Barak has presented to over 100 high school classes, faith communities, and Lions Clubs – Especially memorable was a “Mini Climate Summit” of middle school classes in New Delhi and Olympia.
Barak is a retired Optometric Physician after working as both a solo practitioner and provider at various clinics from 1986-2017.
From 1978-1982, Barak worked as an engineer at Boeing Aerospace and Boeing Commercial Airplane Companies, utilizing thermodynamics and structural analysis.
He has served as board member, including as President, of Washington Wild (formerly Washington Wilderness Coalition) from 2005-2012. He founded and served as chair of Bay Area Chapter of Coalition on the Environment and Jewish Life (COEJL) from 1996-2001 and also served as a board member of California Wilderness Coalition (CWC) from 2001-2002.
Barak received his Doctor of Optometry (OD) from the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry and his Bachelor of science in Mechanical Engineering from MIT.
Barak loves the mountains. You might see him and his beloved spouse on mountain trails – that’s where his spirit roams!
