Partnership Program Manager

To support these objectives, we currently have an open position for a Partnership Program Manager. This is a full-time, remote position that requires some weekend work and ability to travel. A generous benefits package and competitive salary range are outlined below.

Position Summary
This new role will focus on managing programs that support the Hertz Foundation’s existing and future partnerships, and their alignment to the foundation’s functional areas, resulting in enhanced growth of our brand, funding and program offerings. Responsibilities include execution on agreements established with partnerships, scaling the foundation’s model for formalizing partnerships, and tracking workflow in the annual calendar.
This position is vital to ensure effective interactions between Hertz team members and with our external partners. The Partnership Program Manager takes ownership of reporting, such as performance updates and financial reporting.
The Partnership Program Manager serves as a member of the foundation’s Community team, reporting to the Director of Community. In addition to collaboration within the Community team, success in this role requires a close and effective working relationship with Development and Fellowship staff, with the Controller, and with the Chief Strategist. The Partnership Program Manager works side-by-side with these staff, as well as volunteers, contractors and partner organization representatives.

Primary Responsibilities/Job Duties
Program Management
- Continuously scale the foundation’s model for formalizing partnerships, collaborating with the Director of Community, and utilizing stakeholder input as needed. Examples include:
- Create a framework for different types of partnerships
- Develop standardized and adaptable agreements
- Define roles, responsibilities and process documentation steps
- Implement systems to manage and report on partnership outcomes
- Train relevant staff on any new systems to enable effective partnership management
- Execute and manage programs that strengthen and build relationships/interfaces between partnerships, the foundation and fellows.
- Operationalize and execute agreements with our partners, including:
- Longer-standing engagements with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories, Gates Foundation and Innovation Tri Valley
- More recent partnerships such as National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine, ADI, Federation of American Scientists and Breakthrough Energy
- Contribute to the management and optimization of the constituent relationship management system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of contacts, relationships, and activities in Raiser’s Edge.
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Development Operations and Annual Giving to maintain data integrity and align on system protocols and procedures.
- Support the Director of Community and relevant Hertz staff through systems to track the pipeline of new partnerships and relationships
- Working with internal collaborators, ensure the foundation executes on all promises to partners and that partners reciprocate accordingly
- Co-create accountability metrics for specific performance goals and expectations around partnerships
- Assess ongoing needs of our partners via frequent check-ins and informal surveys; determine how the foundation can improve support under existing or future agreements
Workflow and Reporting
- Input partnership workflow into our annual calendar; provide timely modifications and progress updates
- Maintain day-to-day management of assigned workflow to foster partner relationships
- Take ownership of partnership reporting and performance indicators
- Use data collection software and other methods to maintain clear, organized, and accurate records of both Hertz and partners’ involvement and achieved outcomes
- Accurately report financials, ensuring relevance to audience (e.g., Controller, Partners, Board, Council, Director of Community, and other staff)
- Monitor expenses within scope of job duties to ensure budget achievement
- Complete ad hoc reports for partners, senior Hertz leaders and Board, as requested
Collaborations
- Collaborate with Development, Fellowship and Community teams to execute on their partnership strategies
- Support networking and mentoring opportunities for fellows across the Hertz Community, in conjunction with Community and Fellowship teams and other Hertz staff
- Collaborate with Communications staff to highlight partnership involvement, as appropriate. Assess and develop approaches to “get the word out” on internships and access to events, etc.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- 4-5 years of experience in program management, including strong event and project management experience
- 2 years of experience developing and implementing new strategies/processes
- Experience running programs that are external and community-facing
- Due to Hertz Foundation’s focus on STEM disciplines, education and/or experience in a scientific or technology-focused organization is desirable
- Experience in RE NXT software, Asana and Google Drive is desirable
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel skills
- This full time remote position requires some weekend work and ability to travel
- In-person participation in a variety of locations is required for various staff and community meetings

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Regular computer use daily, ability to sit for lengthy periods of time
- Stand, walk, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch
- Lift/push/pull/carry various objects of 15 lbs. occasionally (at conferences as an example)
- Ability to talk and hear to communicate with managers, employees and associates
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
Salary and Benefits
Salary and benefits are competitive and include medical insurance, generous retirement contribution, and earned vacation and sick time.
Salary Range: $70,000 - $78,000
