Thomas (Tom) Weaver is the Hertz Fellowship Interviewer, following many years as the Foundation’s Senior Fellowship Interviewer. He is also a consultant for Intellectual Ventures on a range of physics, engineering and biology inventions. Previously, Tom worked for 28 years in the Physics Department at the University of California’s Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory where he served as leader of the X-Ray Laser Program and General Studies Division leader. He is a recipient of the Department of Energy’s E.O. Lawrence Award. Tom holds an undergrad degree from Caltech, and a PhD in astrophysics from the University of California, Berkeley.
