Albert Qin

Albert Qin is a doctoral student at Princeton University addressing questions about the behavior of neural networks — both artificial and biological — using a variety of approaches and ideas from physics and neuroscience.
Drawn to the precision, beauty and spirit of physics, Qin earned bachelor’s degrees in physics and mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. At the same time, he pursued an interest in biology — working on single-molecule approaches to study transcription factor diffusion in living cells and investigating the cell circuits that control animal development. A goal of his career is to serve as a bridge between physics and more biological fields. As an undergraduate, Qin was very lucky to have many wonderful and inspiring mentors. In his own career, he hopes to carry that forward to become a teacher and mentor for the next generations of students excited by science.
Qin was born in Connecticut and raised in California and enjoys playing volleyball and reading Kazuo Ishiguro novels in his free time.
