Tracy Vogler is a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories, where his research focuses on the dynamic behavior of materials under extreme loading conditions.
Vogler earned his undergraduate degree before completing an S.M. in aeronautics and astronautics from MIT and a Ph.D. in engineering mechanics at the University of Texas at Austin, where his Hertz Fellowship began in 1992.
His research at Sandia has investigated how granular materials, ceramics and other heterogeneous materials respond to shock waves and high-velocity impacts—knowledge essential for armor design, planetary science, and the performance of energetic materials.
