MAKING HISTORY

Matthew Pelliccione is a Research Staff Scientist at HRL Laboratories, LLC.

In his current role, Matthew is working on MEMS gyroscopes for inertial navigation, Quantum computing with spins in silicon, Cryogenics and low noise electronic measurements and Embedded systems and FPGA development. Previously, he was a postdoctoral fellow at UC Santa Barbara and built new tools to look at systems at the atomic scale including studying novel mesoscopic electron systems and their applications. His emphasis was on the integration of nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond with local scanning probes. This area of research has the future potential to scale down nuclear magnetic resonance measurements to the single molecule limit.

He completed graduate studies in Applied Physics at Stanford University under advisor Prof. David Goldhaber-Gordon, and did a summer internship at Hitachi Global Storage Technologies.
