Leo Radzihovsky is professor of Physics at the University of Colorado Boulder, where his theoretical research focuses on soft condensed matter, liquid crystals, membranes, and quantum phase transitions. Radzihovsky earned his undergraduate degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute before completing his Ph.D. in physics at Harvard University, where his fellowship began in 1988. His research investigates the behavior of fluctuating and disordered systems, from liquid crystal elastomers to ultracold atomic gases in optical lattices. He has made contributions to the theory of soft matter including the statistical mechanics of fluctuating membranes and the physics of crumpling.
