Extending Galas’ legacy
The fund was established to honor Hertz Fellow and Board Chairman Emeritus David Galas for his incredible service to the Hertz Foundation. and to carry on his legacy in perpetuity, we are establishing the new David Galas Fund for Fellows. Hertz Fellows Daniel Slichter and others are spearheading the fund.

About David Galas
For more than 20 years, Chairman Emeritus and Hertz Fellow David Galas led the Hertz Foundation with passion, dedication and a vision for its future. Throughout his tenure, Galas’ thoughtful and compassionate leadership enriched the lives of those around him. He was always focused on identifying bright young people and providing them with the support, opportunities and mentorship to maximize their potential.

About Daniel Slichter
Daniel Slichter is a staff physicist in the Ion Storage Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Boulder, Colorado. His research focuses on quantum information experiments with trapped atomic ions, with an emphasis on developing new paradigms for scalable trapped ion quantum computing.
