Steven Goodman is executive director of the AAV Platform at Vertex Pharmaceuticals, a leading biotechnology company, where he oversees the development of adeno-associated virus (AAV) gene therapy delivery systems. Goodman earned his undergraduate degree before completing his Ph.D. in chemistry at Harvard University, where his fellowship began in 1996. His scientific training in chemistry has been applied to the development of viral vectors used to deliver genetic medicine—a rapidly growing field with the potential to treat previously incurable genetic diseases.
