Per Ljung is the founder of LookSee Labs, a wearable technology company he launched to reimagine what a connected device could be. Drawing on his background in micro-electromechanical systems and low-power electronics, Ljung designed functional jewelry that prioritizes self-expression over the conventional smartwatch paradigm — including the Eyecatcher bracelet, a flexible always-on e-ink display with a battery life measured in months that was a finalist at TechCrunch Battlefield. Before LookSee, he served as vice president of advanced technology and projects at Motorola Mobility, where he invented “vitamin authentication,” an ingestible wearable that transmits a coded signal through the body to a smartphone. Earlier, he founded Coyote Systems with a multimillion-dollar DARPA contract to develop CAD tools for MEMS design; the company was later acquired by Cadence Design Systems. Ljung earned his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a Hertz Fellow at the Berkeley Sensor and Actuator Center, and his M.S. from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.
