Michael Spreitzer is a Principal Research Staff Member at IBM’s T.J. Watson Research Center.

Michael received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford in 1989. Prior to that, he had received a B.Sc. in Engineering and Applied Science from CalTech in 1980.

Michael worked at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center on various projects in ubiquitous computing, distributed databases, programming languages, security, user interface technology, and VLSI design aids. He moved to IBM in 2000, where he works in the area of distributed systems including performance management and scalability. Michael also has interests in ubiquitous computing, programming languages, and security. Recent activities include contributions to the performance management features of WebSphere Extended Deployment (part of the Application Server product line).
