Edward Ehrichs is a Senior Foundry Member at Marvell Semiconductor, where he works on advanced chip design and process technology. Ehrichs earned his undergraduate degree from Stanford University before completing his Ph.D. in physics at the University of Texas at Austin in 1989. His doctoral research focused on nanofabrication with the scanning tunneling microscope—one of the first instruments capable of imaging and manipulating individual atoms. His work contributed to the early development of STM-based lithography techniques, exploring the possibility of writing nanoscale features by applying voltage pulses through the STM tip. These experiments were foundational in the emerging field of nanotechnology.
