Bruce Hendrickson, PhD

1985 HERTZ FELLOW

MAKING HISTORY

Bruce Hendrickson is Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s (LLNL) associate director for Computation, where he works to advance the lab’s leadership and strategic partnerships in simulations and data science. Before joining LLNL, Hendrickson worked for 26 years at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he also served as an affiliated professor of computer science at the University of New Mexico.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a Master of Science in physics from Brown University. Hendrickson attended Cornell University as a Hertz fellow from 1985-1990, where he received his PhD in computer science.

He is a fellow of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, a distinguished member of the Association for Computing Machinery and a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He has earned numerous national honors and awards, and holds four U.S. patents.
