Uri Shumlak earned his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. He was a National Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow at the Air Force Phillips Laboratory at Kirtland AFB before joining the University of Washington, where he is a Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Adjunct Professor of Applied Mathematics. He is an IEEE Fellow, APS Fellow, and AIAA Associate Fellow. His contributions to theoretical and experimental plasma physics led him to co-found Zap Energy, where he serves as Chief Scientist.
