Stephen Pearse has been a groundbreaking technology leader and entrepreneur for 45 years. He is currently a member of the Hertz Foundation board of directors.
He is a managing director at Yucatan Rock investments, and served as Chairman for these boards: Foundation for Energy Security and Innovation (Appointed by DOE secretary, Vice Chair), Cyras (sold to CIEN), Protea Foundation, Maxwell Biosciences, Techtonic, Voltree (MIT spinout), Mobiwatch (sold to BBY). Also on boards of Netscout (NTCT), Revolv (sold to GOOGL), C4RJ, Emerson Hospital, many others.
He mentors at Techstars, taught an MIT Startup class, and served on the NASA Advisory Council (NAC). Stephen was CEO and Chairman of Cyras Systems (sold to Ciena Corporation for $2.7B), hailed as the “fastest creation of multi-billion value in history”.
Before starting his entrepreneurial career, Stephen was EVP and General Manager of Bay Networks’ Internet/Telecom Business Group, where he led the $9bn sale and merger between Bay Networks (BAY) and Nortel Networks (NT). Stephen also served as Senior Vice President of Engineering, Operations and IT at Time Warner Telecom, and Vice President of Technology at Sprint.
Stephen holds an MBA from MIT Sloan School, MSEE from Stevens Institute of Technology, and BSME from Georgia Tech.
