Julius Goldhar is professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park, where his research focuses on laser physics and optical communications. Goldhar earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from MIT, completing his Ph.D. in physics there, with his fellowship beginning in 1971. His research has addressed high-power pulsed laser systems, stimulated Brillouin scattering, and the generation of ultrashort optical pulses—topics central to both scientific instrumentation and high-speed fiber-optic communications.
