Dan Lesman is an MD-PhD student at Harvard University, where his research centers on developing computational and experimental techniques to study proteins that circulate in the blood.
Lesman earned a bachelor’s degree in biomedical science from The Ohio State University, where he worked on therapeutics for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. This work earned him the Barry Goldwater Scholarship. During his summers, he conducted research at the Broad Institute, contributing to the development of new genomic technologies. While at Ohio State, he also founded an organization that provides academic services to disadvantaged students across central Ohio.
Before starting his MD-PhD, Lesman spent two years at the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, earning master’s degrees in global health and statistics. His work focused on developing machine learning methods to analyze electronic health record data and predict the three-dimensional structure of small molecules.
Lesman grew up in Dublin, Ohio.
