Bradley J. Micklich is a senior physicist and radiation physicist at Argonne National Laboratory, where he has built a long career applying nuclear and radiation physics to problems in neutron scattering, fusion reactor design, and national security. Micklich received his Hertz Fellowship in 1979 and earned his doctorate in astrophysical sciences from Princeton University. His dissertation examined control of neutron albedo in toroidal fusion reactors, using computational codes to model how the reflective properties of reactor wall materials affect neutron behavior and tritium breeding — work directly relevant to the design of commercial fusion energy systems. At Argonne, he has worked across a range of nuclear applications, including contributions to neutron source design and radiation measurement techniques. He has also served as a lecturer in IAEA training courses on nuclear security and detection.
