To apply for the Hertz Foundation Travel Fund, you must meet all the following criteria:

• Be a current enrolled in-school recipient of the Hertz Fellowship or within (10) years of completing your PhD.
• Plan to utilize the funds to finance travel associated with a conference, professional workshop or similar event related to your research, studies or professional pursuits.  
• Do not intend to utilize the funds for travel to Hertz-sponsored events.
• Haven’t already received this award this fiscal year (ends June 30, 2026)
• Submit the required application to receive funding.

Important: Award recipients agree to acknowledge support from the Hertz Foundation in all related materials (e.g., program bio, poster/footer, slides acknowledgement, paper/abstract where permitted, website/social posts), complete a survey after participation and be responsive to related requests from the Foundation in a timely manner.  

How to apply

All enrolled in-school and early-career Fellows (up to 10 years post-PhD) are eligible to apply. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis with decisions received within two business days upon submission and funds disbursed shortly thereafter. Eligible Fellows may request an application below. Current in-school Fellows may also access the application through their fellowship portal.
