Thaddeus Ladd is a Quantum Information Scientist at HRL Laboratories, LLC.

Thaddeus presently serves as the Quantum Theory and Simulation Group Lead in the Computational Physics Department of HRL. His key focus in this role is the development of silicon spin qubits and their viability for future quantum computers, but he also contributes efforts to improve quantum sensors and quantum communication systems.

Thaddeus has been in the field of quantum computing for a quarter century now, starting straight after receiving his bachelor’s in physics from Harvey Mudd College in 1998. He received a Masters and Ph.D. in applied physics from Stanford University as a Hertz fellow, graduating in 2005. Thaddeus continued research at Stanford, via project researcher roles with the University of Tokyo and Japan’s National Institute of Informatics, prior to starting at HRL in 2009. He is also a lifelong student of music, in particular the classical guitar.
